T here is already plenty to see and do in Buntingford. When the Buntingford Classic comes to town, however, the town comes alive with the sights and the sounds of a wonderful display of vehicles and machinery. Even the non car enthusiast will be delighted with the old classics and the modern sports vehicles on display...and beside the vehicles, there's a host of family entertainment on offer throughout the town. Previous years have seen a great collection of military vehicles with the owners getting into the spirit and dressing in period clothing. Some local farm equipment is usually much in evidence with beautifully kept tractors a real favourite with children. There's always some real unusual cars as well as some true classics. Names like Jensen, De Lorean, Jaguar, Triumph, Lotus, Morris, etc. are all proudly displayed.
If I Ruled Buntingford.....people must be polite and happy when out in public places. If they are grumpy they must stay indoors until they have cheered up. Kelly Game (Aged 11), Buntingford Journal, May 2009 The Buntingford classic is planned to start at 11am through to 4pm once more on Saturday 4th September 2010. The roads will be full of classic and interesting vehicles, people from all around the area and live musical performances. It's a great day out for all. The event, however, wouldn't take place without a lot of preplanning and some financial assistance - so if you have some time to help prepare the event, please get in touch. Meanwhile we want to hear your stories, see your cars and see you on Saturday 4th September 2010. Don't forget now! We always have the pleasure of some great local and international musicians helping give the town a party atmosphere. The Free Programme is available from J.Oliver Radley Opticians and English Grocer in High Street, Buntingford. It has the programme of events and lots of pictures from previous shows as a souvenir. Thanks to the sponsorship from many of the retailers enabling the free distribution. Exhibitors, please submit me more of your stories for next year's programme. Every car on display has its own story, so let's hear it! A big thank-you to the exhibitors that did send info in - you can check some of the correspondents here on Exhibitor's Stories - likewise, I am sorry if I did not include your article or had to edit it. This website and the Programme is managed by one person in between earning a living, so please make early submissions for next year.
Helpful comments are always welcome. Enjoy The Buntingford Classic 2009.
